Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 PDP presidential candidate, has commended Aliko Dangote for overcoming numerous obstacles to commence operations at his refinery. Atiku criticized the APC-led government for implementing reforms that have harmed the private sector, urging the government to create a favorable environment for businesses to thrive.
Atiku acknowledged the challenges Dangote faced in achieving this milestone, stating that the private sector must be supported through efficient regulations. He expressed concern that the APC-led government’s reforms have eroded confidence in the economy, driving investors away.
Dangote’s refinery, which commenced fuel production on Tuesday, aims to reduce import dependence, lower inflation, and stabilize the Naira. The refinery’s petrol production will soon enter the Nigerian market, with pricing to be determined by the Federal Executive Council.
Atiku’s statement highlights the need for a supportive environment for the private sector to drive growth and investment in Nigeria. He praised Dangote’s perseverance and commitment to Nigeria’s energy self-sufficiency, encouraging him to continue lending his support to this journey.
