Tragic Accident in Anambra Claims Two Lives
A fatal road accident occurred on Friday along the Onitsha-Nteje-Awka Expressway in Anambra State, resulting in the deaths of two people – a male and a female.
The accident involved a Toyota Camry with registration number UWN531AS and an IVECO Turbostar tanker with registration number ADM619XA. Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to brake failure, stating that the vehicles collided after the Toyota Camry lost control.
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Acting Sector Public Education Officer, Margaret Onabe, confirmed the incident. She reported:
- Three male adults and one female adult were involved.
- One female and one male died.
- Two male adults were rescued unharmed.
FRSC Sector Commander Joyce Alexander sympathized with the deceased victims’ families and warned motorists to:
- Obey traffic rules and regulations.
- Regularly service their vehicles.
Alexander emphasized the importance of safe driving practices to prevent such tragedies.
The FRSC rescue team managed traffic and ensured the vehicles were towed away. The corpses were taken to the mortuary before their arrival.
