Zelensky Seeks Biden’s Support for Ukraine Peace Plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that US President Joe Biden will support his plan to end the war with Russia. Zelensky will present his “victory plan” to Biden during an upcoming trip to Washington.
During a press conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Kyiv, Zelensky stated that the plan aims to achieve key decisions between October and December. He emphasized the importance of international support for the plan’s success.
The European Commission has pledged to lend Ukraine 35 billion euros, backed by frozen Russian assets. Zelensky’s visit to Washington comes after a summer of intense fighting, with Moscow advancing in eastern Ukraine and Kyiv holding parts of Russia’s Kursk region.
Zelensky is also scheduled to meet presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Republican rival Donald Trump. Additionally, he plans to host an international peace summit in November, inviting Russia to participate.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has conditioned peace talks on Ukraine’s surrender of four regions.
