The University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan has clarified reports of a fire outbreak, stating that the incident was not as severe as claimed on social media.
According to Funmi Adetuyibi, Public Relations Officer, the fire started at 8:10 am on Sunday, September 22, 2024, due to a spark at the Medicine Laboratory’s changeover box on the 3rd floor.

Adetuyibi confirmed:
- The fire was limited to the changeover panel
- Hospital staff promptly extinguished the fire
- Fire Service officials arrived swiftly
- No major damage or disruption to hospital activities occurred
The hospital management assured the public of the safety of lives and property, thanking supporters.
Contrary to viral images, most pictures shared online were not of UCH Ibadan.
