Siblings with Muscular Dystrophy Share Heartbreaking Story
Marvelous Cyril, 27, and Nnenna Cyril, 21, suffer from muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder causing progressive muscle weakness and degeneration. Despite their challenges, they courageously share their story, seeking support and understanding.
Diagnosed at ages 8 and 10, respectively, the siblings have faced abandonment, loss, and daily dependence on others. Their parents, who sought spiritual and medical solutions, passed away in 2011 and 2012.
The siblings rely on their three working siblings for support, struggling to access basic necessities. They require prosthetic devices and therapy, recommended by doctors, to improve their mobility.
Marvelous, who had to stop his education in Junior Secondary School, dreams of becoming a graphic designer. Nnenna, who dropped out of school after Primary 5, aspires to be a nurse.
Their story highlights the need for:
- Medical assistance and prosthetic devices
- Financial support for education and daily living
- Awareness and understanding of muscular dystrophy
The siblings’ resilience and determination inspire hope for a better future.
