Bobrisky, a popular Nigerian crossdresser, has taken legal action against VeryDarkMan, an internet activist and critic, over an audio clip posted on social media. The clip allegedly contains a voice recording of Bobrisky admitting to bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million to drop a money laundering charge ¹. However, Bobrisky denies the allegations, claiming the voice recording was generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) ¹.
In response, Bobrisky’s legal team has demanded that VeryDarkMan:
- Delete the audio clip immediately
- Issue a public apology in two national newspapers
- Record a video apology to be shared across all social media platforms
- Cease publishing defamatory content about Bobrisky
- Pay N1 billion in damages within 24 hours ¹
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has also responded to allegations against him contained in the audio clip, issuing an ultimatum to VeryDarkMan ¹. Additionally, Falana’s daughter, Folakemi, has threatened to take VeryDarkMan to court ¹.
The controversy surrounding Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan has sparked reactions from various individuals, including Seun Kuti, who claimed to have given VeryDarkMan permission to expose Bobrisky ¹. The EFCC chairman and Bobrisky have been invited to appear before the House of Representatives to address the allegations ¹.
