The United States Military Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVIDUSA) has urged Nigeria to adopt the 1960/63 regional autonomy model to address socio-economic and security challenges. AVIDUSA warned that failure to do so may lead to the country’s collapse. The group referenced Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s 2017 demands, including airport upgrades, industry revival, and job opportunities. AVIDUSA emphasized restructuring Nigeria, citing the South-East Development Commission as a positive outcome of change-agitation. The group demanded Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release, detained without authorization. AVIDUSA believes regional autonomy will mitigate Nigeria’s problems, and its president and secretary signed the statement.
