Court Dismisses Suit Seeking PDP Chairman Damagum’s Removal
The Katsina State High Court has dismissed a suit seeking to remove Umar Iliya Damagum as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The plaintiff, Ibrahim Musa, argued that Damagum’s appointment was unconstitutional, as Dr. Iyorchia Ayu’s successor should have come from the North-Central geopolitical zone.
However, Justice Abdullahi Bawa-Faskari ruled that the matter falls under the party’s internal affairs and is beyond the court’s jurisdiction. He upheld the defendants’ preliminary objection, declaring the case “not justiciable”.
The court’s decision effectively ends the legal challenge to Damagum’s leadership. For more updates on this story and its implications for the PDP, consider searching online for the latest news.
