Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca tempered expectations about his team’s chances of winning the English Premier League (EPL), citing the club’s need for more time to develop.
Currently in fourth place, Chelsea has had a strong start to the season with four wins, one draw, and a loss to Manchester City. Despite this, Maresca believes his side is not yet ready to compete with top contenders Manchester City and Arsenal.
Maresca stated, “Competing to win the PL? I really don’t think we can compete with Man City or Arsenal now. We are not ready. Man City worked with Pep for nine years. Arsenal, five years. Us, three months.”
The Italian tactician emphasized the importance of gradual progress, saying, “The target is to slowly, slowly… get closer.”
Key contributors to Chelsea’s campaign include:
- Cole Palmer (22) with a record-breaking four goals in one half
- Nicolas Jackson with 10 goals
Maresca’s cautious approach reflects his focus on long-term growth and stability.
