A’Ibom LG poll: PDP wins 30 council seats, APC one

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has secured a landslide victory in Akwa Ibom State’s local government elections, winning 30 chairmanship seats. The All Progressives Congress (APC) secured only one seat.

The Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) released the results, which were signed by Chairman Aniedi Abasi Ikoiwak. Governor Umo Eno has announced plans to swear in the elected chairmen on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Governor Eno stated that the swift inauguration would enable the newly elected officials to receive their allocations and begin working for their constituents. He expressed gratitude to outgoing chairmen for their service.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for 8 am on Monday. AKISIEC will issue certificates of return to all elected chairmen on Sunday.
