Nigeria’s Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has assured citizens that President Bola Tinubu’s policies will soon yield positive results. Speaking at an event in Awka, Anambra State, she acknowledged the current hardship but expressed optimism that the government’s efforts will alleviate suffering.
During the event, food items and essentials were distributed to indigent women. The minister stated that President Tinubu is committed to supporting the poor, citing the distribution as an example.
“We have 5,000 bags of rice, 500 bags of fertilizer, 300 cooking gas cylinders, and POS machines for distribution,” she said. “We’re ensuring that federal government support reaches those in need.”
Ohanenye also announced the establishment of a mobile court to protect the poor, launching on October 15. An Integrity Brigade will be formed to combat societal ills.
Regarding social security, she clarified that applicants must provide their Bank Verification Number (BVN) to ensure eligibility.
Meanwhile, former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has declared support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
