A standoff between Lagos Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials and military personnel has occurred over the planned closure of Adeniji to Falomo Road for rehabilitation. The Federal Controller of Works for Lagos, Mrs Olukorede Keisha, had enlisted the military’s assistance to enforce the road closure, but LASTMA officials argue that prior notification to the public is necessary to avoid hardship for motorists.
A LASTMA official stated that the road cannot be closed without sufficient notice, while the Federal Ministry of Works remains adamant about the closure. The situation began at midnight, with LASTMA personnel calling for backup from the task force. The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Transport, Wale Musa, confirmed the incident and assured that the ministry is working to resolve the issue amicably.
The Federal Controller of Works, Mrs Olukorede Keisha, was unavailable for comment. The standoff highlights the need for coordination between government agencies to avoid conflicts and ensure public awareness of road closures. The Lagos State Ministry of Transport is working to resolve the matter, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes until the issue is resolved.
