Nollywood Veteran Bob-Manuel Udokwu Reacts to Idris Elba Playing Lead in ‘Things Fall Apart’ Series
Nollywood veteran Bob-Manuel Udokwu shared his thoughts on Idris Elba’s casting as Okonkwo in the TV adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s ‘Things Fall Apart.’
In an interview with Channels TV, Udokwu stated that while he has nothing against Elba, Nigeria has top-class actors who could play the role better.
“There are talented actors in Nigeria who understand the story’s origin and can bring Okonkwo to life more authentically,” Udokwu said.
He acknowledged the benefits of collaboration between Nollywood and other film industries, revealing his current project features actors from Bollywood and Hollywood.
Udokwu’s comments come after Variety reported that A24 is developing the series with Elba and Gina Carter as executive producers.
