Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed shock and sadness over the sudden death of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Olaniyi Ijalaye. Ijalaye died on Monday evening in Abuja after attending a meeting at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters. He reportedly collapsed in his hotel room shortly after the meeting.
Abiodun described Ijalaye’s death as “devastating” and “a profound shock.” He praised Ijalaye as an honest, committed, and highly intellectual public servant who embodied humility, patriotism, and unwavering integrity. The governor extended his condolences to Ijalaye’s family, the people, and the government of Ondo State, describing him as an exemplary figure of diligence, commitment, and honesty in public service.
