National chairmanship tussle: Ignore claims by faction – AA apologizes to INEC

The Action Alliance (AA) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to disregard claims by the Rufai Omoaje faction and recognize Kenneth Udeze as the authentic National Chairman. In a letter to INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, AA cited several court judgments validating Udeze’s leadership, contrary to Omoaje’s assertions.

AA accused Omoaje’s agents of spreading misinformation and attempting to blackmail INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. The party warned against recognizing Omoaje, stressing that his appeal at the Supreme Court lacks merit. AA assured INEC and Nigerians that Udeze’s leadership remains legitimate, backed by court declarations.

The letter referenced the Supreme Court’s ruling in SC CV 1259/2022, which did not determine Udeze’s removal, and the Court of Appeal’s judgment in CA/ABJ/CV/955/2022, affirming Udeze’s election. AA emphasized that Omoaje’s appeal at the Supreme Court is yet to be heard and lacks merit.

AA’s letter aimed to clarify the leadership tussle and ensure that INEC is not misled by Omoaje’s claims. The development highlights the ongoing internal conflicts within AA and the need for clarity on the party’s leadership.
