Tinubu returns from France, to swear in new Chief Justice today

President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on August 23, 2024, after a brief work stay in France. He arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 2:25 am. Later today, he will swear in the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, at the State House Council Chambers.

This ceremony marks the formal appointment of Justice Kekere-Ekun as the new CJN, succeeding Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who has retired. The National Judicial Council recommended Justice Kekere-Ekun for the position during its 106th meeting on August 15.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed the swearing-in ceremony would take place today as previously scheduled. President Tinubu departed for France on Monday for official business before returning to Nigeria.
