¡Tragedy struck in Ogun State, Nigeria, when a truck crushed a woman and her granddaughter to death in the Papalanto area of Ewekoro local government. The incident occurred on Friday when the Iveco truck, with registration number KJA166 XJ, attempted to overtake a tricycle carrying the victims.
According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesman for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, the truck driver’s dangerous driving caused the accident. The truck dragged the tricycle along, causing it to fall and resulting in the deaths of the woman and her granddaughter.
Akinbiyi stated that four people were involved in the accident, with the two females succumbing to their injuries. The truck driver fled the scene but was later arrested. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their relatives, while the injured tricycle driver was taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan.
