The family of late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, accusing the force of delaying justice in the investigation into the singer’s death. The family, through their lawyer, has demanded the replacement and probe of all police officers involved in the case, alleging that they mishandled the crime scene and allowed potential evidence to be destroyed.
Mohbad’s family claims that the police officers in charge of the case failed to properly investigate the singer’s death, including not exploring his phone and not sealing his house. They also alleged that Mohbad’s father was denied a police report when he wanted to take the singer’s corpse to the morgue.
The family has also revealed that Mohbad had installed a functioning Close Circuit Television (CCTV) at his flat, which was removed after his death, and the officers in charge of the case kept mute about the incident.
The petition comes after Prime Boy, a friend of Mohbad, called for the police to invite Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, for questioning, sparking reactions from fans and followers.
Mohbad’s family is seeking justice for the late singer, who died in September 2023 at the age of 27. They are calling for a thorough investigation into his death and for those responsible to be held accountable.
