JAMB Terminates Undisclosed Admissions in Nigeria, Details Emerge.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the termination of undisclosed admissions in Nigeria, effective August 31, 2024. This move aims to curb illegal admissions by higher institutions, which have been abusing the Condonement of Undisclosed Institutional Illegal Admissions (CUIIA) process.

JAMB has emphasized that only its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is the authorized platform for admission. The board has given a one-month ultimatum for all tertiary institutions that illegally admitted students between 2017 and 2020 to duly register their enrollees.

The CAPS framework, introduced in 2017, centralizes and automates admission processes between candidates and their chosen tertiary institutions. JAMB has warned that admissions not complying with CAPS will no longer be condoned.

This reform is part of JAMB’s efforts to sanitize the education sector and ensure transparency in the admission process. The board has also introduced measures to prevent fraud and ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into higher institutions.

Institutions are required to disclose all admitted candidates to JAMB, and failure to comply may result in sanctions. This move is expected to bring accountability and transparency to the admission process in Nigeria.
