The Arewa Community in Southern Nigeria has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the Kano royal tussle to prevent further damage to the traditional institution. Chairman Musa Saidu alleged that politicians orchestrated the crisis for selfish gain, disregarding the harm to the revered Kano Emirate.
Saidu emphasized that the crisis benefits neither the people of Kano State nor the traditional institution. He noted that Kano is a crucial political state for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and that he should not allow the situation to escalate.
The Arewa leader expressed concern over President Tinubu’s silence on the matter, citing former President Buhari’s mediation efforts in a similar dispute in 2020. Saidu advised Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II to consider the damage caused by the impasse and accept destiny.
He also appealed to politicians to stop exploiting divisions for personal gain. Additionally, Saidu supported the investigation into former Kaduna State governor Nasiru El-Rufai’s administration, commending the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s actions as a model for other lawmakers.
