Maiduguri inland port to begin operations in 6 months – Gov Zulum

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, announced that the Maiduguri dry inland port will commence operations in six months. He made this statement in Lagos after meeting with the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Executive Secretary, Pius Akutah.

Governor Zulum expressed confidence that the port will bring opportunities to the state, including job creation and economic growth. He noted that the port will enhance trans-border trade with neighboring countries, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon, improving relationships and increasing the nation’s GDP.

Pius Akutah, NSC CEO, emphasized the importance of the port, citing its strategic location and the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA). He highlighted the need for critical infrastructure like the inland port in Maiduguri, given its proximity to three countries.
