The Delta State Government has initiated the implementation of the new minimum wage, as announced by the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed officials to discuss consequential adjustments with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). The talks aim to ensure a smooth transition to the new wage structure.
Governor Oborevwori also expressed concern about the prevailing hardship in the country and instructed officials to develop programs to alleviate its effects, particularly among youths. The State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting approved various projects, including road reclamations and the purchase of medical equipment.
The approved projects align with Governor Oborevwori’s development plans, impacting 23 out of 25 local government areas. The state government is committed to improving infrastructure and healthcare services. The purchase of two Computerised Tomography (CT) scanning machines for hospitals will enhance medical care.
The reclamation of a gully erosion site along the Okpanam-Ibusa bypass Road will ensure the sustainability of the new road. These projects demonstrate the state government’s dedication to driving meaningful development and enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
