Igbo must go: Pro-Biafra groups seek diplomatic, legal action

The Coalition of Pro-Biafra Organizations (COPROBIG) has called on Igbo leaders to initiate a collective legal process for self-determination, following a recent call by an unknown group for Igbos to leave Lagos State. COPROBIG, comprising several pro-Biafra groups, condemned the silence of Yoruba leaders, including Otumba Gani Adams and the Ooni of Ife, on the planned destruction of Igbo lives and properties.

The Coalition expressed disappointment at the Federal Government’s lenient treatment of the “Igbo Must Go” protest organizers, suggesting that they have government backing. They urged Igbo diplomats to collaborate with African patriots to restore the state of Biafra.

COPROBIG views the recent call as a culmination of hatred and marginalization against the Igbo people, following similar incidents in 2017. They criticized the government’s inaction and called for decisive measures to protect Igbo lives and properties.

The Coalition’s statement emphasized the need for Igbo leaders to take proactive steps towards self-determination, citing the silence of Yoruba leaders as a concern. They also called for international intervention to address the plight of the Igbo people.

The situation highlights the ongoing tensions and calls for secession in Nigeria, with pro-Biafra groups seeking recognition and protection for the Igbo nation. The Federal Government’s response will be crucial in addressing these demands and preventing further escalation.
