The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken decisive action against several establishments in the Lekki Phase I area for violating state environmental laws. The affected establishments, including Kingfisher, Red Lagos, Logic Church, and Bolivar, were sealed off by the agency due to non-compliance with environmental regulations despite prior warnings.
According to the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the establishments were found to be in violation of environmental laws, necessitating the agency’s intervention. Wahab emphasized that LASEPA’s action is part of its commitment to fostering a serene and sustainable environment that prioritizes cleanliness, safety, and environmental responsibility.
The agency’s move is also aimed at combating noise pollution, a growing concern in the state. Earlier in August, the Lagos State Government sealed off Landcraft Industries Nigeria and Word of Light Christ Ministry (Camp of Light) for noise and environmental pollution-related offences.
This proactive measure by LASEPA underscores its dedication to upholding environmental regulations and protecting the well-being of Lagos residents. The agency’s actions serve as a warning to other establishments to adhere to environmental laws and regulations or face similar consequences.
By taking decisive action against violators, LASEPA is working towards creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment for all Lagosians. The agency’s efforts demonstrate the state government’s commitment to environmental protection and its determination to hold establishments accountable for their environmental impact.
