Residents of Madagali in Adamawa State are seeking urgent intervention after a major bridge linking the town to Borno State collapsed due to heavy rainfall. The bridge’s collapse has caused significant hardship for locals and traders, who now have to manually transport goods across the river.
The residents appealed for quick action during a visit by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) management to the collapsed bridge. The NEDC Managing Director, Alhaji Mohammed Alkali, assured that reconstruction work would begin soon, with President Bola Tinubu giving the go-ahead.
The collapse of the bridge has increased prices of goods from Borno State, as traders bear the extra cost of manual transportation. Locals are hopeful for a swift response to restore the critical infrastructure connecting the two states.
