Organizers of the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protests, which took place from August 1 to 10, 2024, have announced plans for another protest in October, dubbed “Fearless in October”. The Director of Mobilisation of the Take It Back Movement, Damilare Adenola, confirmed the planned protests, stating that the demands remain the same unless new issues arise.
The previous protests saw youths across the country demonstrating despite government efforts to discourage them. The protesters submitted a list of demands, including scrapping the Senate, increasing the minimum wage to N250,000, reversing fuel prices and electricity tariffs, and releasing and compensating EndSARS and political detainees.
When asked about complying with court orders to hold demonstrations at designated points, Adenola stated that they would not accept such restrictions. Meanwhile, activist and Human Rights Lawyer Deji Adeyanju is working towards securing the release of protesters arrested during the previous demonstrations.
The planned “Fearless in October” protests aim to continue pushing for the demands made by the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria movement, which seeks to address various issues affecting the country.
