Niger Humanitarian Affairs Ministry confirms 13 killed by bandits in shiroro LGA

At least 13 people have been killed and several others injured in attacks by bandits on Bassa and Anguwan Magiro communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The Niger State Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management confirmed the incident in a statement.

The bandits destroyed shops and left the farming villages in disarray, with over 12 neighboring villages currently taking refuge at the Erena IDPs camp. There were no reports of abductions during the attack.

The Commissioner and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management extended their condolences to the families of the victims, Shiroro Local Government, and the people of Niger State.

This incident follows a previous attack on April 25, 2024, where hundreds of villagers fled their homes after soldiers stationed in the community were withdrawn, leading to increased insecurity in the area.
