30 Days Lockdown Threat: Simon Ekpa exploiting Southeast gov’s weakness – Ohanaeze

Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the factional Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, has criticized Simon Ekpa, the self-acclaimed Prime Minister of Biafra, for exploiting the weakness of Southeast governors to issue baseless threats. Ekpa had threatened a 30-day lockdown of the Southeast from August 28 to September 26, 2024, due to insecurity in the region and the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Isiguzoro argued that the recent meeting between Southeast governors and former President Olusegun Obasanjo should have led to a collective visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to advocate for Kanu’s release. Instead, Ekpa’s threats have created an opportunity for criminal elements to masquerade as Biafran agitators, further endangering the region.

Isiguzoro called for the Southeast governors to reassess their strategies in addressing regional challenges and to focus on developing indigenous solutions. He emphasized that Ohanaeze is committed to finding genuine pathways to resolve the spiraling insecurity in the Southeast.
