Clarify Oando’s quick approval in AGIP/ENI purchase, Atiku tells FG

Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, has criticized the Federal Government for allegedly giving preferential treatment to Oando Plc, owned by President Bola Tinubu’s nephew, in the acquisition of AGIP and ENI’s onshore assets. Atiku accused the government of unfairness and demanded clarification on the accelerated approval process.

Atiku also condemned the House of Representatives for failing to act on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) allegedly mortgaging national oil assets to vested interests. He cited the approval of Oando’s acquisition within eight months, while other deals, such as Shell/Renaissance and Mobil/Seplat, face delays.

Additionally, Atiku criticized the Tinubu administration for human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, and misusing the Cyber Crime Prevention Act 2015 to detain citizens. He highlighted cases of journalists and activists being arrested and detained for speaking out against the government.
