Security agents have rescued 20 medical students who were kidnapped in Benue State, Nigeria. The students, from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were abducted while traveling to Enugu for a convention. A combined team of military, DSS, and police operatives tracked the kidnappers to Ajide forest in Benue State, where a gunfight ensued, resulting in the death of one kidnapper and the arrest of two others.

The students were taken to the National Intelligence Agency clinic for medical checks and treatment. No ransom was paid for their release, according to the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.

The rescue operation was coordinated by the National Security Adviser in Abuja, with the deployment of land and air assets. The students’ parents expressed relief and gratitude for their safe return.
