Jazz and Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is set to make her acting debut in Prime Video’s original movie “Christmas In Lagos”. The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist will star alongside Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold in the romantic comedy.
The movie, directed by Jadesola Osiberu, follows the story of Fiyin, a recently heartbroken woman who is convinced that her best friend is the love of her life. Ayra Starr’s involvement in the project was a deliberate choice by the director, who praised the young artist for her fearless and daring attitude.
“Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself. She was on the list from day one,” Osiberu told Variety.
The movie also features cameo appearances by musicians Wurld and Liya, and a soundtrack that includes songs from legendary musician Sunny Ade, Afrobeats icons Flavour and D’banj, and more.
