A devastating flood has struck two local government areas in Niger State, Nigeria, leaving seven people missing and 89 houses destroyed. The flood, triggered by heavy rainfall, affected Sabon Pegi in Mashegu Local Government and Nasarawa in Magama Local Government.
The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba-Arab, confirmed the incident and stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the missing individuals. According to Baba-Arab, the flood destroyed hundreds of hectares of farmland and washed away three vehicles.
The affected communities include Sabon Pegi in Mashegu and Nasarawa in Magama. NSEMA staff, volunteers, and local riverine communities are conducting search and rescue operations.
