The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered 21 admission seekers with fake Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) results. The candidates were recommended for 2023 admissions by various institutions, with 12 of them coming from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
JAMB discovered the fake results during the 2023 admission process and did not approve the candidates. The board emphasized the need for certificate screening to be done before registration, rather than after, to prevent such incidents.
This is not the first time JAMB has encountered issues with fake results. In 2021, the board unveiled a verification platform for IJMB and JUPEB results to combat irregularities and faking of results.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had previously reported irregularities in JUPEB Board IJMB examination results, prompting JAMB to take action.
JAMB has implemented measures to prevent fake results, including requiring certificates to have the signature of the head of the institution. The board is working to ensure the integrity of the education sector and prevent unscrupulous individuals from undermining it.
In related news, JAMB has introduced measures to prevent underage candidates from taking the WASSCE and NECO exams, including enforcing an 18-year age limit. The board has also received donations of computers from Kwara State to aid in its operations.
