Katsina gov promises support for transportation varsity

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Federal University of Transportation, Daura. He made this known during a meeting with the university’s management team, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Umar Katsayal, at the Katsina Government House.

Governor Radda promised to encourage the construction company handling the university’s project to undertake additional projects within the institution. He commended the university management for their commitment to transparency in employment and student admissions.

The governor emphasized the importance of specialized education in driving economic growth and technological advancement, stating that his administration recognizes the pivotal role of institutions like the Federal University of Transportation, Daura.

He acknowledged the efforts of the Minister of Transportation, Sen. Sa’idu Alkali, in facilitating the university’s establishment and promised to provide necessary support to ensure the institution delivers on its mandate effectively.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Katsayal, highlighted the university’s progress, including the admission of approximately 600 students across 14 academic programs. He also announced preparations for the 2024/2025 admission exercise and the upcoming matriculation ceremony for the inaugural set of students.

Prof Katsayal expressed gratitude to the state government for the donation of a coaster bus and the promise of an ambulance. He congratulated Governor Radda on his first year in office and extended condolences on behalf of the university community for the recent passing of Dada Yar’adua.
