Two Arrested for Cloning, Issuing Fake Tax Receipts in Osun
The Osun State Government has arrested two individuals for cloning and issuing fake government tax receipts and clearance certificates. The suspects were caught during a statewide audit/enforcement exercise conducted by the Osun State Internal Revenue Service.
The Chairman of the Osun State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Adesola Adewumi, warned taxpayers to be vigilant and ensure they use authorized channels to pay their taxes. He stated that the suspects had been handed over to the state police command for further interrogation and possible prosecution.
Adewumi emphasized that the agency would not condone illegality regarding tax payments and that anyone caught engaging in such activities would face the full wrath of the law. He urged diligent taxpayers to be vigilant and ensure they obtain government receipts for every payment made through authorized channels.
The Osun IRS chairman noted that the objective of the ongoing exercise is to bring to book all enemies of the state sabotaging the government’s revenue efforts. The agency aims to block revenue leakages and ensure adequate compliance with tax payment rules.
The Osun State Government has urged taxpayers to be cautious and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The arrest of the two suspects is a step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in tax payments in the state.
