Tinubu signed peace accord in 2023, Presidency counters Kukah

The Nigerian Presidency has disputed Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Matthew Kukah’s claim that President Bola Tinubu didn’t sign the 2023 presidential election peace accord. Kukah made the statement at the Edo election security town hall meeting.

Presidential adviser Bayo Onanuga countered that Tinubu signed two peace accords in 2023. The first, committing to a free and credible election, was signed on September 29, 2022, with Vice President Kashim Shettima representing Tinubu. The second, accepting the election outcome, was signed on February 23, 2023, with Tinubu present.
