The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports that former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello is in their custody. In a statement by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the commission emphasized that Bello remains wanted due to outstanding money laundering charges totaling N80.2 billion.
Contrary to recent media reports, the EFCC confirmed that Bello is not being held at their facilities. A subsisting warrant for his arrest remains in place.
The clarification comes amid controversy surrounding Bello’s visit to the EFCC headquarters. His media team claimed he was not interrogated during the visit.
