Over 1,000 APC Members Defect to PDP in Ondo
In a significant move ahead of the November governorship election, more than 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defectors were received by Dr. Eddy Olafeso, chairman of the Ondo PDP Campaign Council, in Ore. Olafeso assured the new members that they would be treated equally and without discrimination.
Yusuf Abdulateef, leader of the defectors, cited “bad governance” in Ondo State and Nigeria as the reason for their departure from the APC. He stated that despite being offered millions of naira to stay, he chose to join the PDP to support the masses suffering under the current administration.
Abdulateef expressed confidence in PDP candidate Agboola Ajayi’s ability to steer Ondo State toward prosperity.
The defection comes two months before the governorship election, where 16 political parties will contest.
