Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingoes, has announced its 21-player squad for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Head coach Bankole Olowookere named captain Taiwo Afolabi, top scorer Harmony Chidi, and Peace Effiong to the team.

Chidi scored 13 goals during the qualifiers. The Flamingoes will face host Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand in Group A.

Before the tournament, the team will embark on a two-week training tour in Santo Domingo, departing Nigeria on October 1. Nigeria previously finished third in the competition, held in India.
