The Kaduna State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant strides in the fight against drug abuse, seizing 1,045.93 kilograms of illicit substances and arresting 420 suspects in the third quarter of 2024.

NDLEA Commander Samaila Danmalam disclosed this information during a briefing, revealing that the suspects included 404 males and 16 females, comprising drug dealers, users, and traffickers. The confiscated substances included cocaine, cannabis sativa, Rohypnol, Tramadol, methamphetamine, and other psychotropic drugs.

Additionally, the NDLEA recovered 1,393 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and four locally-made firearms during its operations. The agency also secured 30 convictions and charged 54 others, with ongoing investigations into several cases.

The NDLEA’s efforts extend beyond enforcement, with rehabilitation programs in place. Fifty drug users received counseling, and another 50 drug-dependent persons were successfully rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.

Commander Danmalam urged the public to provide timely and useful information to assist in the fight against drug abuse.
