Akwa Ibom Governor Appoints Daughter as Acting First Lady
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has appointed his daughter, Helen Eno-Obareki, as the Acting First Lady following the death of his wife, Pastor Patience Eno.
During a condolence visit by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Eno announced his daughter’s new role, stating she would ensure continuity of the office and projects initiated by his late wife, particularly the Golden Initiative For All.
Eno expressed confidence in his daughter’s ability to uphold her mother’s values and vision. He described his late wife as his “greatest supporter and toughest critic,” recalling their lifelong bond.
Senator Tinubu praised the governor’s decision, expressing confidence in Helen’s ability to excel. “You will accomplish even more than your mother, and God will grant you good health,” she said.
Addressing rumors of remarrying, Governor Eno joked that he doesn’t have the money to pay another bride price. He emphasized that the vacancy left by his late wife cannot be filled.
Helen Eno-Obareki will work closely with the Deputy Governor and the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare to continue her mother’s legacy.
