National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, revealed that the recent increase in corps members’ allowances has been delayed due to funding issues. The Federal Government approved a raise from N33,000 to N77,000 in July 2024.

According to Ahmed, the government has not released the necessary funds, despite confirmation from the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission. This delay affects not only corps members but also NYSC staff, whose salaries were increased four to five months ago.
The NYSC DG expressed optimism that the new pay will be implemented soon. However, no specific date has been announced.
