Ondo PDP, APC Clash Over Campaign Venue
The Ondo State chapters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are at odds over the use of Democracy Park in Akure for the PDP’s campaign kickoff.
The PDP alleged that the APC-led state government denied them permission to use the venue for their October 15 campaign launch, despite submitting an application.
In a statement, PDP’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ayo Fadaka, described the denial as “petty” and “cheap.” The party vowed to proceed with its campaign.
APC’s response
The APC’s state Director of Media and Publicity, Steve Otaloro, dismissed the allegation as “false” and “mischievous.” He claimed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa doesn’t directly manage the park and can’t unilaterally deny access.
Otaloro emphasized that facility usage follows established rules and regulations. He urged the PDP to provide evidence of payment and approval.
Key Points:
- PDP alleges APC-led government denied campaign venue permission
- APC denies allegation, citing established rules and regulations
