Human Rights Lawyer Criticizes Proposed Bola Tinubu University
Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer, has condemned the House of Representatives’ proposal to establish Bola Tinubu University. The bill, sponsored by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and eight others, aims to promote Nigerian languages.
Effiong expressed his disapproval on social media, calling the proposal “sycophancy” and highlighting Tinubu’s controversial educational background. He questioned Tinubu’s contributions to Nigeria’s education system.
“The same Bola Tinubu whose educational background is shrouded in controversy. What has Tinubu done to revamp Nigeria’s educational system? Sycophancy is a problem in this country,” Effiong stated.
The proposed university has sparked debate, with some arguing it’s unnecessary and others seeing it as a tribute to Tinubu’s legacy.
