Presidential Amnesty Programme Seeks Partnership with National Counter Terrorism Centre for Niger Delta Peace
The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) is seeking collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) to achieve sustainable peace and security in the Niger Delta region. Dr. Dennis Otuaro, PAP Administrator, made this known during a courtesy visit to Major General Adamu Laka, National Coordinator of the NCTC, in Abuja.
Otuaro emphasized that a peaceful Niger Delta would guarantee increased oil output and improved economic well-being for Nigeria, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He praised the NCTC’s efforts in tackling security challenges nationwide and expressed his administration’s willingness to collaborate.
Key Objectives of the Partnership:
- Enhance Peace and Security: Deepen the Amnesty Programme’s ongoing peace and security process in the region
- Increase Oil Output: Guarantee increased oil production for the country’s benefit
- Support Vulnerable Communities: Ensure positively impacted communities and vulnerable Niger Deltans
The Niger Delta Youth Network has expressed concerns over the delayed resumption of the Port Harcourt Refinery, citing potential exploitation by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) ¹. This partnership aims to address such concerns and promote regional development.
The NCTC has recorded significant successes in tackling security challenges, and this collaboration is expected to further strengthen peace and stability in the Niger Delta.
