Enugu State Governor Approves N80,000 Minimum Wage
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has announced a new minimum wage of N80,000 for state workers, including local government employees, effective October 2024.
This decision reflects Mbah’s commitment to worker welfare, fulfilling a campaign promise. The new wage exceeds the national minimum wage and addresses salary disparities among local government workers.
Labor leaders, including Comrade Fabian Nwigbo and Comrade Ben Asogwa, praised the Governor for prioritizing workers’ welfare. The Chairman of the Association of Local Government Workers, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh, pledged to implement the new wage immediately.
This move aims to enhance worker motivation, productivity, and living conditions in Enugu State.
