The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced its verdict on the disputed AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Libya. Nigeria was awarded three points and three goals, while Libya was fined $50,000.

The decision follows an investigation into Libya’s treatment of the Nigerian team, who were subjected to a 20-hour ordeal, including a diverted flight, 18-hour airport detention, and inadequate facilities.

CAF found Libya’s Football Federation guilty of breaching regulations and disciplinary codes. Libya has appealed the decision.

Nigeria now leads Group D with 10 points, nearing qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco.
