Court Grants Dantata & Sawoe Final Adjournment to Settle $1.2 Million Debt Case
The Federal High Court in Abuja has given Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company Limited a final adjournment until January 21, 2025, to settle a $1.257 million debt owed to Zutari Consulting Nigeria Ltd.
Justice Inyang Ekwo warned Dantata & Sawoe’s lawyer that if they fail to settle, he will impose a fine. The court previously approved advertising a winding-up petition against Dantata & Sawoe due to the unpaid debt.
The debt arose from subcontract work on the Dangote Fertilizer Plant project in Lekki, Lagos. Zutari Consulting Nigeria Ltd. claims Dantata & Sawoe owes $1,257,592.83, ZAR 2,136,623.39, and £4,364.38.
Dantata & Sawoe denies indebtedness, stating payment was made. The court granted an adjournment for settlement discussions but threatened a fine if progress isn’t made.
