Enugu Police Inspector Arraigned for Murder of Local Musician
A former police inspector, Joseph Ozonwanji, has been arraigned and remanded in prison custody for allegedly murdering Igbo ogene musician, Okezie Nwamba.
Ozonwanji, formerly of the Anti-Cultism Police Squad in Enugu State, faces a one-count charge of murder before the Enugu East Magistrate Court.
The prosecution alleges Ozonwanji unlawfully killed Nwamba with an AK47 rifle on October 25, 2024.
The Enugu State Police Command’s dismissal of Ozonwanji was approved by Assistant Inspector General of Police Godwin Aghaulor.
The case has been transferred to the Department of Public Prosecution for advice, with the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice promising expeditious action.
This development follows the police’s commitment to ensuring justice for Nwamba’s family.
