Reps Step Down Motion Against Niger Delta Ministry Change

The House of Representatives has stepped down a motion asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reverse the decision to change the Ministry of Niger Delta Development to Ministry of Regional Development.
The motion, sponsored by Oboku Oforji (PDP, Bayelsa), was withdrawn due to being “overtaken by events.”

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen cited President Tinubu’s assurance to receive the South-South Development Commission Bill, addressing Niger Delta’s specific issues.
House Leader Julius Ihonvbere stated the ministry’s conversion would broaden development scope to other regions without denying Niger Delta its due.
